Fall color is approaching its peak in northeast Ohio, and the woodlands at The Holden Arboretum in Lake County will be the setting for a 1-day workshop on forest close-up photography on Saturday, October 17.  After a morning classroom session on close-up photography we will enjoy a woodland hike along Pierson Creek at Holden to photograph leaf patterns, mushrooms, lichens, salamanders, insects and other forest “critters”. An evening review session will be held on Wednesday, October 28 from 7-9 pm to share and critique photos taken during the workshop.  To register, call Vonna Zahler at (440)-602-3833, or visit Holden’s website:

During November, 2008 and November, 2007 the Missouri Botanical Garden hosted my two-day garden photography workshops. This year, we are expanding the scope to cover a broad spectrum of travel subjects in a Travel Photography Workshop on November 14-15, 2009.  This intensive, hands-on workshop, which is limited to 15 participants, will include information on photographing cities, towns, gardens, landscapes, seascapes, sunrises and sunsets, waterfalls, people and wildlife.  For more information, call Glen Kopp at (314)-577-5148 or visit the Missouri Botanical Garden website at:

ONE-ON-ONE CUSTOM PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

During the past twenty years I have been privileged to conduct more than 150 workshops and seminars in nature and garden photography. Many participants in these programs have expressed an interest in customized, one-on-one workshops, and I’m pleased to announce that I am now offering full-day,  one-on-one private nature and garden photography workshops, based in my home/office in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.  Whether you are a beginner trying to understand the basics of using a digital camera, a weekend enthusiast interested in building your stock photography and refining your field techniques, digital workflow, or printing skills, or an advanced amateur photographer wishing to learn how to market your images and establish a second career in outdoor photography, we can develop a customized one-day session designed to meet your needs. These sessions will typically include a portfolio review of a selection of your photographs, a field photography session in Cuyahoga Valley National Park or other photogenic locations in northeast Ohio, lunch (at my expense), an afternoon session on digital workflow in my home office in Cuyahoga Falls, and one or two Epson inkjet prints of your photographs produced on the Epson Stylus Pro 9800 inkjet printer in my basement “digital darkroom”.  The fee for a one-day, 9am – 5 pm customized one-on-one photography workshop is $600.
