Biggest Week in American Birding – iPhone Photography Workshop – May 11, 2015

Today, more than 60% of the world’s pictures are taken with a cell phone camera, and Apple’s iPhone is the most popular smartphone. Join Ohio photographer and writer Ian Adams for a half-day iPhone Photography Workshop, on Monday, May 11 as part of The Biggest Week in American Birding, at the Maumee Bay State Park Lodge and Conference Center, east of Toledo, Ohio. This half-day program is packed with information on how to take great photographs with your iPhone, plus some of the best apps for capturing photos and fine-tuning them on your iPhone, iPad, PC or Mac.

Here’s what you will learn during this fun-filled, half-day program:

* The best photo settings for your iPhone, and when and how to use the Flash, HDR, Grid and Panorama options.

* The best “capture” apps (mostly free or just a few dollars) for your iPhone, and how to use them to take sharp, colorful, well-exposed photos.

* Tips on composition and lighting, and exercises to stimulate your iPhone creativity.

* How to double the resolution of your iPhone’s camera.

* How to organize your iPhone photos into albums, plus how to back them up and synchronize them with your iPad, PC or Mac.

* A selection of the best apps for editing and fine-tuning your iPhone photos, and how to use them to create fine art photos with your iPad, PC or Mac.

* How to share your iPhone photos with your family and friends via email, Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr, and how to make great color or black-&-white prints from your iPhone images.

* Which subjects are most suitable for iPhone photography, and which subjects are best taken with your digital point-&-shoot or SLR camera.

* How to use your iPhone with a spotting scope or a pair of binoculars for digiscoping, to obtain record photos of birds and other distant objects.

The workshop will be held on Monday, May 11, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Maumee Bay State Park Lodge and Conference Center.  The program, which costs $45, includes a handout that covers all the information covered in the classroom sessions. After the workshop, Ian Adams will be signing copies of A Photographer’s Guide to Ohio and his new book, A Photographer’s Guide to Ohio – Volume 2.
