If you live in or near Rhode Island, and would like to devote a weekend to improving your garden photography, join us in Newport, Rhode Island, where I will be leading a garden photography workshop on Friday evening, June 10 through Sunday, June 12 for the Newport Photo Guild.

We’ll begin with an introduction to garden photography on Friday evening, followed by a classroom session on Saturday morning covering suggested digital camera settings for garden photography; controlling image sharpness and exposure; lighting for garden photos; visual design in composing garden photographs; tips for photographing garden vistas, plant groupings, abstracts, close-ups, water features, buildings and other structures; how to photograph butterflies and dragonflies, pets and people in gardens; and documentary vs. impressionistic garden photography.

Following lunch, we’ll visit several beautiful gardens in Rhode Island for a photo shoot.

On Sunday morning we’ll share and review selected photos from Saturday’s photo shoot, followed by advice on how to edit, organize, fine-tune and store your garden images using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. On Sunday afternoon, I will provide some tips for sharing your garden photos using email, slide shows, color inkjet prints, social media and other websites, and self-published books.

For registration and other information on this workshop, visit the Newport Photo Guild’s website.
