The photograph above shows a spring view of Mound Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio. In the background is Conus, an Adena Indian mound, one of several Indian mounds located in the city of Marietta. Many of Marietta’s first European American settlers rest here, including what is thought to be the largest group of Revolutionary War veterans interred in a single place in the US.
On Thursday, November 14, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, I will be in Marietta to conduct a slide program and book signing of my latest book, This Place of Silence: Ohio’s Cemeteries and Burial Grounds, for Washington County Public Library. This program will be held at the Campus Martius Museum in Marietta. I will also be signing copies of three more of my Ohio photography books: A Photographer’s Guide to Ohio – Volumes 1 and 2, and Ohio in Photographs: A Portrait of the Buckeye State. This will be my final program in 2024.
