As an Ohio landscape photographer, I love finding and photographing waterfalls. Over the years. I’ve discovered dozens of waterfalls in many areas of the Buckeye State, and I devoted an entire chapter to them in my recent book, A Photographer’s Guide to Ohio. This one-day photo tour, sponsored by The Holden Arboretum, will take us to several of the most picturesque waterfalls along  Cleveland’s famed “Emerald Necklace” of metroparks in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland. We will also visit one of Ohio’s finest vistas, and enjoy many opportunities for photographing  fall color at the peak of the autumn season.

We’ll  begin with a visit to the Tinker’s Creek Gorge Overlook in Bedford Reservation, one of Ohio’s finest scenic vistas, then travel to nearby Bridal Veil Falls and Great Falls of Tinker’s Creek in Viaduct Park. A short drive will take us to Mill Creek Falls, a hidden gem in the Emerald Necklace less than 5 miles from Public Square in downtown Cleveland. If time permits, we’ll visit more scenic areas and waterfalls in South Chagrin Reservation near Solon.

This photo tour is designed for experienced photographers who are familiar with the operation and controls of their digital cameras. A tripod and polarizing filter are highly recommended for this tour, so you can use slow shutter speeds and control specular reflections. Ian Adams will provide tips on photographing waterfalls and fall color as well as one-on-one coaching to participants throughout the day. There will be a classroom review/critique of participants’ photos from the tour at Holden Arboretum on Saturday, October 27, from 7-9 pm.

To register, visit Holden Arboretum’s website at www.holdenarb.org, or call Vonna Vecchio at (440)-602-3833.
