Slide Programs > Wet and Wild — The World of Wetlands

Since 1780 agriculture, urban and industrial development has destroyed more than fifty percent of the 250 million acres of wetlands – marshes, bogs, swamps and fens that existed in the United States in pre-settlement days. Yet over 100 million acres of wetlands remain, teeming with animal and plant life. In this program, Ian Adams takes you on a photographic journey to some of our country’s best remaining wetlands, from the quaking bogs of the North Woods and Midwest to the coastal marshes and swamps of the southeast.
