On Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, at Wadsworth Public Library, I will be conducting a photography workshop based on my eBook, iPhone Landscape and Nature Photography. Today’s iPhones and Android smartphones have excellent camera systems, and I will be covering the following topics:
- The best iPhone camera settings for landscape and nature photography;
- Tips for taking sharp, well-exposed smartphone photos;
- How to use High Dynamic Range (HDR) in contrasty lighting situations;
- Controlling depth-of-field with Portrait mode;
- How to take superb panoramic photos with your smartphone;
- Close-up smartphone photography;
- Photographing waterfalls and night photography;
- Tips for lighting and composition, illustrated with a spring photo essay;
- Recommended iPhone apps and accessories for landscape and nature photography;
- Storing, organizing, fine-tuning and sharing your smartphone nature photos;

A few days ago, on September 7, Apple announced their new iPhone 14 smartphones, and I will share my thoughts on whether you should consider upgrading your current iPhone to one of the new iPhone 14 models, from a photographic viewpoint. Signed copies of my books, A Photographer’s Guide to Ohio – Volume 1 and 2, will also be available at the workshop, which will include hands-on classroom exercises, so be sure to bring your iPhone to the program.
