February, 2025 Slide Programs & iPhone Photography Programs

I have two slide presentations and two iPhone photography workshops scheduled in February, 2025.

On February 1, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, I will be presenting a slide presentation on my new book, This Place of Silence: Ohio’s Cemeteries and Burial Grounds. This program is co-hosted by Crawford County Public Library and Crawford County Parks, and will be held at the Lowe-Volk Nature Center, 2401 OH-598, Crestline, OH 44827. Signed copies of this book will be available, as well as copies of my earlier books, A Photographer’s Guide to Ohio – Volumes 1 and 2, and Ohio in Photographs: A Portrait of the Buckeye State.  A signed copy of each of these 4 books will also be available as door prizes at this event. A selection of 6 24×36-inch Epson Matte Canvas prints of  my Ohio tree images through the seasons, plus 8 framed Epson Premium Luster prints of Ohio winter scenes, will be on display at the Lowe-Volk Nature Center from January 25 through the end of February.

On Tuesday, February 18, I will be presenting a program, Trees: A Photographic Celebration,  via Zoom, for Western Reserve Land Conservancy, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This program will showcase a selection of my favorite tree images, taken during the past four decades in Ohio and 13 other U.S. states, together with some of my favorite tree poems and quotations. This material is also the basis for another new book, Trees: A Photographic Celebration, which we plan to self-publish, both as an eBook and a soft-cover printed version, later in 2025. A sample cover for the book, shown above, showcases a red maple at the Quechee Gorge in central Vermont. For more information or to register for this slide program, visit the Western Reserve Land Conservancy website.

My iPhone – currently a new iPhone 16 Pro model – continues to be one of my favorite tools for landscape and macro photography, and I will be sharing tips and other information on iPhone landscape and nature photography at two northern Ohio libraries during early February, 2025. On Saturday, February 8, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, I will be conducting a two-hour classroom program on iPhone landscape and nature  photography at Sandusky Public Library, 114 W. Adams Street, Sandusky, OH 44870. Bring your iPhone or Android smartphone and learn about the amazing new capabilities of the latest smartphones for scenic and close-up photography. Here’s a website link with more information.

On February 13, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, I will be presenting the same iPhone landscape and nature photography program at North Canton Library, 185 N. Main Street, North Canton, OH 44720. Here’s a website link with more information.
