Birch Allee, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

Join us on Sunday, May 4, from 2-4 pm, for a spring photography walk at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens in Akron, Ohio. Bring your iPhone, Android smartphone, or favorite digital camera as we stroll Stan Hywet’s beautiful gardens in search of  tulips, peonies, flowering shrubs, and spring wildflowers.

Peonies, West Terrace, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

I’ve been privileged to photograph the gardens at Stan Hywet for more than twenty years, and I’ll share some of my favorite locations for capturing the beauty of spring in the formal gardens, woodlands, and meadows of this national treasure.

Anyone can take snapshots with a smartphone, but to take your photography to the next level you will need an understanding of lighting and composition in landscape and garden photography, as well as how to control exposure, sharpness, and depth-of-field, using your smartphone’s or digital camera’s built-in features as well as some smartphone apps which provide additional capabilities. I will share guidance and tips on landscape and nature photography throughout our photo walk at Stan Hywet.
